We recently updated our website with new information about our
Losmandy Spider Dollies.
There have been three new changes: The 4-Leg Spider now transports in two cases with wheels, as opposed to the 3 cases it previously required. There is a new version of the Low-Shot Kit. And we are now offering a 5-Leg version of the Spider Dolly.

What if you want to use a tripod supported jib on track? We have a solution.
Placing a tripod-supported jib on a Spider Dolly requires the three
leg pattern so the tripod feet can be attached to to the dolly legs.
However, the 24.5" separation of traditional dolly track creates a
narrow footprint under a large jib. The single wheel on one side
would be our articulating wheel, and it would support the leg at an angle. This creates a zone that lacks support. As the jib swings into this zone, tipping could occur. This problem would be eliminated if we used our 4-Leg configuration, but we cannot because the 4-Leg pattern does not line up with the tripod legs, so there is no way to attach the tripod to the dolly. However, combining the two configurations creates a 5-Leg/4-Wheel Dolly that solves the problem. See the illustration below.
With this 5-Leg/4-Wheel combination you have the ability both to use a tripod as the jib support, and to have four wheels for stability on the track.

Spider Dolly Configurations
The Spider Dolly can be used in either a 3 leg, 4 leg or 5 leg configuration.
Brad sent us a video demonstrating set-up of the 3-Leg Spider Dolly and a short testimonial. "We are a very busy London based hire company in the U.K. servicing the production needs of our clients with cameras, decks, lighting equipment and grip equipment including dollies.
The Losmandy 3-Leg Spider and FlexTrak is our most popular dolly system because of its portability and quick set up."
